What’s Next for Snapchat: Ads are Here!

snapchat_post.pngSnapchat ads are here! Snapchat just announced a huge expansion of their advertising options that includes ad buying options via a carefully selected group of tech and creative partners. The announcement means marketing pros now have more options for buying and measuring ads created for the app, and will help ensure that that ad content is fit for the Snapchat audience.

The great thing about this announcement is that it means we’re getting closer and closer to Snapchat being a viable option for fresh produce brands with every new update, but as we have said before here, here and here, Snapchat is still not the most cost-effective way to build your brand on social media.

We will be honest about our experience and understanding of this platform so far… Snapchat is high-stakes for marketers. It has no intentions of following in Instagram’s ad footsteps, and ads won’t come cheap. But the good news is that you will get what you pay for. The taco head selfie lens from Taco Bell garnered 224 million views in one day, with an average of 24 seconds per user spent playing with the lens before sharing the snap with friends. People loved it! They also paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for it. So while this might not be the best use of your marketing budget dollars in 2017, there is an exciting new option you CAN try out.

What you can do now: Marketers have the ability to try a custom geofilter for the areas surrounding their headquarters or other office locations. This is a great (and inexpensive) way to get your brand involved on Snapchat. (We envision your logo and fresh products appearing as a filter as people visit your company’s home town!) For just $5 a day, you can have a live custom geofilter for your event. Just make sure the design adheres to the Snapchat design guidelines, choose a location and date, and buy them here!
